Bokeh photography is so popular among film camera shooters. It is referred to as the "blurry" part of the image created by the camera lens as it is not the blur in the foreground or background of a subject. It separates a subject from the background is the result of shallow “depth of field” and is simply called “background blur”. The quality and feel of the background blur/foreground blur and reflected points of light, however, is what photographers call Bokeh Effect.
In this Example, the sparrow bird is in focus and sharp, while the background is out of focus. The small or shallow depth of field is the result of standing relatively close to the main subject while using a large aperture. See those circles of different color on the left side of the image? Those are light reflections and they are circular because that’s how the lens rendered it. In this situation, the soft “feel” of those circular areas is what photographers would call “good bokeh”. While some photographers say that bokeh is just about the quality of the circular light reflections and others believe that bokeh is about the quality of the entire out-of-focus area, not only highlights and reflections.
Control the depth-of-field by adjusting the aperture to achieve the blurred photo effect. Depending on what camera lens and the light sources that use, you sometimes may need to bring the main subject as close to the lens as you can to blur the background.
Because of the depth of field, opt for a longer focal length lens which enables you to see more extreme bokeh. Go for zoom lens and watch the beauty of bokeh unfold.
For portrait shots, try to keep the subject separated from the background. Additional they are away from the background; the more likely they are to pop out of the blur.
Explore how objects interact with bokeh effect — hold up a pot of flowers and let the light gather at the petals or capture a slice of cake with candles little in the background at a ceremony function. There are many ways to explore the bokeh effect in everyday life through seemingly ordinary objects.
Like all aspects of photography, bokeh is just one part of the image. Choose an intriguing subject. Focus on creative composition. Keep in mind the technical parts that make the photo shine. And think of how to integrate bokeh effect into the midst of them all. KSHITIJ VIVAN Animation Academy encourages students to make creative animation.
