The logo is one feature of a company’s brand or an economic entity, and its shapes, colors, fonts, and images usually are extremely different from other logos in the same market.

A logo should be able to be printed at any size and should also be effective without color. A great logo essentially depends on two things: great concept and great execution.
People think, what is so tough in creating a logo, right. But, designing a logo is not as easy/ simple as it seems. A logo takes a lot, like thought, creativity, business’ intended need, and a lot of research. Here are some steps that could help in making a good and effective logo.
Understand the Brand/Briefing: Before beginning to put your ideas on paper for a logo design, one has to spend some time gathering the important and relevant information of your client’s brand: who they are, what they do and what is their statistics. Put all your questions and doubts in line and talk to the client to get the design brief.
Reference: Do thorough research on successful and current styles and trends of logo designs that may relate to the design brief. DO NOT follow trends blindly but be aware of them.
Research: Spend some good time in reviewing the brief and gathering more information before beginning thorough research and thinking. Always, take into consideration the client’s competitors, market trends, product or service differentiators, and the history of the business, the future, the current brand, and brand objectives.
Sketching and Conceptualizing: Under this step, start developing the logo design based on the brief and your research. This is the most important part of the design process. You need to be creative and motivated. As Dainis Graveris has written once, “sketching isn’t time-consuming and is a really good way to put ideas in your head right on paper. After that, it’s always easier to actually design it on the computer.” Sketching develops your imagination: once you understand it, all you need is, just a white paper.
Presentation: Only your best logo designs should go to your client. Use PDF format wherein you can also add some related context, which, in turn, will help the client to visualize the brand identity. Preparing a high-quality presentation advisable.
A good designer should also be able to present his ideas and design to the clients and his designs should be self-explanatory in the prospective markets.
Timely Delivery and Support: A good designer should deliver the suitable content to the client on time and impart all needed support. Remember to under-promise and over-deliver.
After you have delivered the designs to the client, be open for the feedbacks on the same. Always, be ready to help your client whenever wherever needed.
Here, we have discussed the basic steps of logo design. Although, we found two steps, that plays important role in designing process, that is, Sketching & Conceptualizing; and Presentation, but rest of them are equally important. Following these simple yet helpful steps one can create a good logo. All you need to have is complete and thorough knowledge of the concept and your client.
Happy Designing..
